Name: Andrew Davies
Preferred Position: Goalkeeper
Squad Number: 1
Andrew is an experienced Astroturf goalkeeper, and was brought up on all weather surfaces. Often the saviour of the Super J's, he produces fine saves from one on one situations on a regular basis. If there is one flaw to his game, it is his sometimes unexplainable errors on judging crosses and high balls, although this is a fault he appears to be working on. Andrew is St Johns first choice 'keeper.
Name: Ali Almushhadi
Preferred Position: Defence
Squad Number: 2
St Johns only foreign star, this Lebanese international hopeful was poached from the Real Rochester youth system. His talent was there for all to see and he quickly established himself in the Super J's squad that went on to capture the Monmouthshire Diocese League towards the tail end of 1998. Although his form has taken a turn for the worse lately, it goes without saying a robust player such as Ali will soon rediscover that old magic that made him such a fan favourite.
Name: Ryan Jones
Preferred Position: Defence
Squad Number: 3
A veteran of St Johns, Ryan has been with the club since its inaugural season in 1996, being the clubs first captain. Apart from a brief spell on loan with Lliswerry Stars AFC he has been a virtual ever present and during the last 6 months there has been a remarkable upturn in his fortunes which has seen him force his way back into first team contention after a lengthy spell as a substitute. Now established in the squad Ryan is striving to improve his attacking play and get the goals he is capable of.
Name: Lewis Kendall
Preferred Position: Defence/Midfield
Squad Number: 4
A bit of a journeyman in his early career, Lewis has had spells with Hartridge, Firbank and St. Julians before coming to St Johns. It seems he has finally settled down and is now a well respected member of the team by fans and colleagues alike. Firm at the back, Lewis' best feature has to be his ability to score goals from whatever position he is in.
Name: Simon Dowsell
Preferred Position: Defence
Squad Number: 7
Name: Craig Mills
Preferred Position: Midfield
Squad Number: 5
Another of the Super J's squad to have been with Lliswerry Stars early in his career. Craig was recently brought into the St Johns ranks after signing on a Bosman when his contract with Rejections expired. This could prove to be a major coup for St Johns as many top flight clubs were believed to be in the hunt for his signature. "Millsey" as he is known, is expected to have a big impact on St Johns hunt for silverware.
Name: Nicholas Henderson
Preferred Position: Midfield
Squad Number: 17
Nick is St Johns all-time leading goalscorer and again topped the chart this term with a total of 38 goals in all competitions. He is often the target of hard tackling and even foul play by less skilful opposition players, who cannot handle his trickery and pace when he has the ball at his feet. It is hoped his goalscoring exploits will continue this season to spur the Super J's on to glory.
Name: Ben Thomas
Preferred Position: Midfield
Squad Number: n/a
The newest member of the St Johns 'family' Ben made an immediate impact with two goals on his debut. A member of the Hartridge Football Academy, he is certain to be one of the J's shrewdest signings. Sure to be even better once used to the 'turf game.
Name: Tritram Holland
Preferred Position: Utility
Squad Number: n/a
A member of the St. Johns team from the beginning, Tris has just returned from a lengthy sabatical in Manchester. Found a scoring return when netting in the 4-2 defeat by eventual Division 3 winners Lliswerry. Although returning to Manchester in the Autumn, he will add an extra dimension until he leaves.
Name: Lee Meredith
Preferred Position: Striker
Squad Number: 11
Lee is the only St Johns player to be purchased from one of there former rivals in the diocese league. He came from there nearest rivals in the lower leagues, St. Teilos, just in time for the J's first season in the Newport Astroturf League. Although another player yet to show his true abilities, Lee scored two fine goals in a league match towards the end of last season to give everyone a taste of what they can look forward to.
